Frequently Asked Questions

Check out the most frequently asked questions about Iron Scholar Muay Thai.

What is Muay Thai?

If you're just now hearing about it, we are truly excited that you came to us to look into it further! Muay Thai is a traditional martial art that originates from Thailand. With a combined mastery of balance, coordination, strength, and stamina, a Nak Muay (Muay Thai Practitioner) uses punches, kicks, and close-range strikes with their knees and elbows to dominate in self-defense and combative sport alike. No matter your experience level, you have a lot to gain by embarking on the journey a Nak Muay

Is Muay Thai good for self defense?

Absolutely! While Muay Thai is intended as a form of striking, the fundamentals of this martial art are rooted in defense. You will learn how to redirect punches, avoid or nullify damage from your attacker, and evade risk all together by mastering footwork, balance, and hand-eye coordination. Muay Thai also features "the clinch" where two combatants tie up prevent one another from gaining the upper hand. You will gain confidence by training with us and feel safer in public knowing that you can evade harm when it comes your way.

Is Muay Thai good for children?

Definitely. Besides the clear benefits of building strength and confidence, Muay Thai commands a level of respect and discipline between students and between the student and instructor. Every young student at Iron Scholar has learned temperament, patience, collaboration, better communication skills, and how to keep attention. It all starts by being a part of the community, and our classes at Iron Scholar are run with the community in mind.

What are the benefits of Muay Thai?

It is without a doubt that Muay Thai is one of the greatest forms of exercise ever, and it is openly available throughout the day at Iron Scholar. Regular training in a Muay Thai gym produces some of the greatest changes for muscle building, body recomposition, and mental health. Try out a class for free and you will soon be eager to regularly include it in your routine.

Open gym or classes?

Yes to both! In the martial arts community, and fitness facilities in general, it is more common to offer a class routine and not maintain open doors to workout on your own time. Fortunately at Iron Scholar, we offer exactly both of these services. When you start your membership, you can jump right onto the schedule for any of our classes offered - Muay Thai or weightlifting! But you also have the luxury of dropping in whenever it is best for you to do your own bag work or get a couple of exercises in.

Does the gym offer anything else besides Muay Thai?

Yes. We believe that all athletic programs are best built with a well-rounded approach. At Iron Scholar, we offer weight training classes to build your strength, and personal training sessions to customize and tailor the approach to you. Our gym is always open to members during business hours, so you can come outside of normal class hours to supplement your fitness journey with additional exercises.

Is there a free trial?

Yes! Anyone who wants to try out the classes at Iron Scholar Muay Thai & Fitness are entitled to an initial class to see if they like it. Fill out the inquiry form above and let's get started!
